Terrific. A new Gas Tax!

It might be time to break out your roller skates and dust off that old bicycle. Hop on a skateboard and unfold that Razor scooter. And not for the purposes of working off those late night gallons of ice cream. No no no. Ladies and gents we may have a serious gas price hike coming our way. The situation in Iraq and the government proposed gas tax hike are to blame.

Don’t you just love the government? Don’t you start Denn. Don’t you start because if you start you won’t stop. Yes I am talking to myself again but this kind of stuff really frustrates me. It’s not political. It’s not a republican vs. democrat thing. My frustration can be summed up with a question. Why is that when the government ineffectively manages money, their solution is to propose new taxes on its citizens? It always becomes our problem.

Apparently, some fund that finances many of the country’s major transportation projects is about to run out of money in August. So some senators are proposing the idea of increasing the tax on gasoline to keep the federal Highway Trust Fund in business. The gas tax is currently is 18 cents and the proposed hike would amount to a new gas tax of 30 cents, an increase of 12 cents. This federal gasoline tax has not been increased since 1993.

Various members of the government are proposing tax breaks in other areas to offset the new proposed gas tax but that sounds like a bunch of bologna. If this gets through Congress all it will mean to most citizens is the tightening of the grip around our wallets

Some people I know are already pay hundreds of dollars a week to fill their tanks. If this new gas tax goes through, along with ISIS in Iraq (for those of you who don’t know ISIS is a terrorist group causing all kinds of problems in Iraq), they will be paying even more?! Crazy I tell ya. My father and I always joke about breaking out the roller skates. The joke may very soon become reality. Stay cool folks.
